Here’s how to turn your ebook into a six-figure business! It’s actually easier than you think… as long as you’re willing to do more than just sit there and hope you make ALL your money off just the sales of your ebooks. In fact, even if I’m only HALF right in the video, the numbers are pretty cool. Of course, I can’t promise your ebook will do this, but again, even if I’m only 25% right in the video… how cool would that be? Pretty damn cool!

Oh, and if you’re serious about marketing your ebooks… you need to check out “eBook Marketing Machine“ right now!

When we did a survey recently asking what roadblocks held people back from writing, publishing, or selling their own ebook, here’s EXACTLY what one of my subscribers told me:

“I have no idea how to structure a book!”

Well, let’s get that handled right now once-and-for-all with this latest “Quick Cuppa Coffee w/ Jim” video…

In this quick video I explain EXACTLY how to structure your ebook, whether it’s a 10-page report or a 300 page monster. This is THE way to set up your ebook and make people HAPPY they spent money with you (and so they’ll buy again)!

PS – Haven’t written your ebook yet?

“When you interview someone for an eBook how do you compensate them for their time and information?”

The bottom line when you’re interviewing an expert – someone with the info you need for all or part of your ebook – one of the things I’ve found over the years is that “expert” does not equal “marketing skill.” In other words, just because they know something about a topic doesn’t mean they know how to sell it, package it, or make money with that knowledge in any way (other than by having a job and working for someone else).

KEY POINT: You don’t have to offer an expert a share of the profits. In fact, a share of the profits would be the last thing I would offer somebody in exchange for an interview.

The first thing I normally do is just offer to pay them straight out for their time. If their hourly rate is $50 an hour I ask “Okay, how much for a couple hours of your time in order to interview you with some questions that my students have about ________?” That’s all I would tell them. I’ve got students with some specific questions in this area. How much would you charge for a couple hours just to answer some questions?

The key here is you don’t want to use their name. You’re not doing this to get their name or to leverage them personally in most cases. What you want is their expertise and to package their knowledge. You want to leverage their ability to answer the questions quickly and save you a lot of research time.

KEY POINT: Make sure the interview is done as a “work for hire”. You can find these people on www.guru.com and other places.

The other way that you can pay experts is with publicity or exposure.

Exposure to your e-mail subscribers.

Exposure to people who read your blog.

Exposure to your newsletter subscribers.

You can tell them, “Look, I’ve got 500 people on my list and I’ll give a link to your website if you just answer these questions.”

Another way you can pay them is to give them a copy of the interview to do with whatever they want.

If you do it as an audio you can give them the MP3.

If you have it transcribed you can give them a copy of the PDF or the Word document.

Just tell them “I’ll take care of the recording and transcription of the interview. You do whatever you want with it. I’ll do whatever I want with it. I’ll give you the MP3, I’ll give you the PDF and we just both go our separate ways.”

You’d be surprised how many people would say “Oh, okay, cool. Yeah, that sounds good.”

Side Note: I must tell you, offering them a combination of exposure and a copy of the interview is by far and away the strategy I use the most.

The last compensation option I would offer an expert is a share of the profits. And here’s something important I’d like to say about this option. Just because they’re an expert doesn’t mean they have any marketing skill. The easiest part of this whole process is doing the interview. If you plan to take the interview and turn it into an ebook (either in full or in part), the hard part is marketing and making the actual sales of the ebook.

That means if you choose the “share-of-the-profit” model, they don’t get paid 50 percent of the profit. I would normally offer them 15 to 20 percent and explain to them, “Look, I’m going to have to do all the marketing, customer service, advertising, and more. If you want to do some or all of those things, then we can do a 50/50 split. But, keep in mind, 15-20% is a lot more than a book publisher would pay you for a LOT more work.”

So, those are really the four ways that you can pay an expert in exchange for content. I mostly do it with a combination of exposure and a copy of the product. Basically you can (1) pay them by the hour as a work for hire. You can also (2) pay them with exposure, (3) a copy of the product, (4) a share of the profits – or a combination of all those. Just make sure you’ve got your strategy mapped out BEFORE you start recruiting experts to create the information you need.

KEY POINT: if you’re serious about selling ebooks, click here for your next step in building your own ebook empire => “How To Write and Publish Your Own Ebook… in as little as 7 Days!“

“If you use the same content for an ebook aimed at another group, can you get “slapped” by Kindle? How does this apply to title testing on Kindle?”

The “Kindle Slap” refers to Amazon cracking down on people who take the exact same ebook content and post it repeatedly within their account under different titles. The only difference between any of these titles is the title itself and the cover. The publishers of these ebooks usually don’t even bother doing a simple search and replace to make even a token gesture toward differentiating the content.

Originally Amazon did not react against this practice. They needed content for the Kindle Marketplace and there weren’t enough customers to cause backlash over the presence of duplicate content. Then, as the customer base grew and people made repeat purchases, customers got very upset. Why? Because people would buy Title 1 and then buy Title 2 and then buy Title 3, only to realize they were all the exact same content! So, partially in response to customer complaints, Kindle “slapped” that practice and put automated measures in place to prevent people from doing it in the future.

The problem is, you’ve got to be careful if you plan to test titles because you can get slapped inadvertently. But why would you want to test titles? Well, it’s no secret that ebook titles are very important when you publish on Kindle (by the way, we discuss how to come up with great titles at length in “7 Day eBook V2.0“). The right title dictates much of your success at getting found when ebook buyers do keyword searches on Amazon, which is the main battle to win if you hope to make good sales. But, if you’re going to test titles to find the best one, Amazon only wants you to have one version of any ebook published at the same time.

Originally, to avoid the “Slap” you would test Title 1 and then turn it off. Then you’d test Title 2 and then turn it off. Frankly, I will tell you that this is probably not a good idea anymore, even if you deactivate a title first. Instead of turning a title off and uploading it as an entirely new book entry, just change the title, change the cover, change the title within the ebook file itself, and re-upload everything within the same ebook title entry. This should cause the ebook to go through a human review again, the reviewer should see what you’re doing, and you should be okay. If there’s a problem, you can address it then and there.

It’s when Amazon thinks you’re trying to get away with something that you run into problems. If you’re real straightforward about it and you’re obviously changing the title, changing the cover, and you’ve made sure that the title within the ebook itself matches, then you should be okay. Amazon will be able to see that you’re just testing different titles.

If you’re at all unsure what to do when testing titles, I would contact Amazon from within your KDP (Kindle Desktop Publishing) account and ask them how they would like for you to handle changing the title on your ebook(s) so you can avoid the “Amazon Kindle Slap”.

By the way, here’s exactly what the top ebook authors (or those who want to be) do to sell Kindle ebooks with HUGE profit margins => Click Here Now
